MUSEE DE VIRE

le samedi 6 décembre 2008

« Dans le vif, créations de la Grande Guerre »

« Comment la Première Guerre mondiale, cette effroyable boucherie, est-elle à l’origine de tant de belles créations ? Cette exposition de plus de 400 objets et œuvres d’art témoigne du bouleversement moral des combattants, simples soldats ou artistes confirmés. Douilles sculptées, bijoux, jouets et ustensiles du quotidien nous questionnent sur la capacité des poilus à « faire du beau » à partir d’objets mortifères. Arts plastiques et littératures témoignent de la psychologie du soldat. »

Le musée installé dans un bel hôtel-Dieu de style classique, présente des collections qui évoquent le mode de vie des habitants du bocage virois au XIX^ème siècle à travers costumes et mobilier. Portraits et paysages des XVIII^ème et XIX^ème siècles et œuvres du caricaturiste Charles Léandre (1862-1934) sont également exposés.
